Google Voice Now Allows You to Use Your Existing Number

Google Voice Existing NumberSadly, up until now you had to choose a new number in order to use Google Voice. Fortunately, Google announced tonight on an Official Google Blog post that that’s no longer the case, as you are now free to use your current phone number. The catch? You have to give up some of theĀ features [it's not clear which ones].

According to Google, when you sign up using your existing phone number, you will “still get many of Google Voice’s features” such as Google Voicemail. As a matter of fact, if you already have a Google Voice account, you can add Google Voicemail to any other mobile phones linked to your account.

Google recently granted current Google Voice users 3 invitations to give out to friends, family, or anyone they want. So, if you are planning to join Google Voice and don’t want to wait for a long time, you might want to ask a friend for an invitation.
