Google Releases Android 2.0 SDK to All Developers

Yesterday, Google held an invite-only event for just a small group of hand picked developers, where Android 2.0, also known as Eclair, was released to those selected developers. Today, just when it was starting to look like Google was being finicky about whom to share Eclair with, Google releases the Android 2.0 SDK to all developers a little while ago.

Android 2.0 or Eclair is said to be full of new features and capabilities such as:

• Multiple accounts can be added to a device for email and contact synchronization, including Exchange accounts.
• Exchange support.
• Combined inbox to browse email from multiple accounts in one page.
• “Quick Contacts,” which provides instant access to a contact’s information and communication modes. For example, a user can tap a contact photo and select to call, SMS, or email the person.
• An improved keyboard.
• Improved browser with HTML5 support.
• And more.

Android 2.0 is not expected to be officially available on any device until Motorola Droid is released, which is expected to be sometime in November [the 9th, maybe?].
