World’s Tweets Near Five Billion
Eric Calouro | Oct 15, 2009 | Comments 0
If I had a dollar for every Tweet published on this planet, I’d have nearly five billion Washington’s in my bank account. That’s because (you might have guessed) the number of Tweets, or updates posted on Twitter, is fast approaching that number.
This information comes from Nathan Reed, and his online counter called GigaTweet (complete with charts, as well!). Of course, the counter moves very rapidly, and we’re sure it’s based on some kind of formula as opposed to actually counting Tweets, but it’s still fun. Over 1,000 Tweets are sent every 3 seconds. I wonder how many of those are, “I’m currently on the toilet.”
Take into account that Spammers also contribute to this figure, and there are plenty in the Twitter neighborhood.
No wonder Twitter’s always going down.
