iMovie Software Update Reveals New Video Format Developed By Apple

In an update of Apple’s iMovie movie-making software, a new discovery has been made: a new video format being developed by Apple. Video format, of course, refers to file compressor/decompressor (codec), such as MPEG, AVI, MOV, and so forth.
The mentioned video format is named iFrame and is based on industry standard H.264 video and AAC audio. What makes iFrame different is the fact that whilst retaining quality, it manages to keep file sizes lower than other formats.
So far, two video cameras support iFrame: the Sanyo VPC-HD2000A and the Sanyo VPC-FH1A, according to CNET.
It’s unknown how long Apple has been working on this specific video format, but one thing’s for sure — we’re all looking forward to small file sizes.
