Google Voice Invitations

Remember when Gmail first came out and the only way to get an account was if someone who loved you very much sent you an invite? Well, Google is announcing today via the Official Google Voice Blog that they are putting into practice the same strategy with Google Voice. Starting today, Google Voice users will start seeing an “Invite a friend” link on the left side of their inbox.

Up until now, the only way to join Google Voice has been by signing up for an invite at google.com/voiceinvite and waiting a long period of time to get one. Initially, current Google Voice users will get only 3 invites to share them with friends, family or anyone they want. The “Invite a friend” should appear on the left hand of your inbox over the next few weeks. If you don’t see it right away, do not worry, it will appear.
