How The Google Logo Impacts Users Of The Web

Gooogle Logo UFOOn Saturday, August 5th, we wrote about how Google had changed its logo for no notable reason.  Today, we’ve come to the conclusion that the Google logo has quite an impact on us, as Google users – and we didn’t even realize it.

So, what do I mean? Here’s the thing: Google usually only changes its logo for special events (holidays, etc). When Google posted a logo Saturday incorporating a UFO (abducting the letter O), most cried, “Conspiracy!” Major tech blogs on the net, including TechCrunch, added fuel to the fire.

The fact of the matter is that we see the Google logo as some sort of beacon as to what’s going on. An ordinary Google logo just means a normal day for most of us. A changed Google logo reminds or teaches us about the current day (be it a Holiday, etc). And, of course, a logo which represents nothing significant (that we know of) brings the conspiracy theorists out from their mother’s basements.

We still want to know what that logo meant, by the way.
