Of the 200 million or so Nokia devices out and about on this planet, Microsoft was apparently slapped with a slippery fish and decided that they wanted a slice of that pie. That’s right, Microsoft will be teaming up with former mobile phone giant, Nokia. Microsoft will be working on mobile versions of one of its flagship products, Office, for the devices.
The move from Office on Windows Mobile devices to Nokia devices is primarily targeting enterprise customers. Of the first devices to receive Microsoft Office; Nokia’s E Series phones.
According to Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices, Kai Öistämö, this partnership intends to go “way beyond email and Office.” Soon we could see a variety of other Microsoft applications on Nokia devices, including Sharepoint and Mesh (which allows synchronization of applications across devices).
