If You’ve Got a Mac in China, You’re in Luck For Now

chineseflag1By now, most of us have heard of the “Green Dam Youth Escort” initative brought forward by Chinese authorities, which would require PC manufacturers to design and install filtering software (you know, for porn, and government censorship). Aside from not functioning on 64-bit systems, the GDYE is also not yet created for Apple’s Mac systems. If you own a Mac, and you’re in China, you’re in luck for now.

Jinhui Computer System Engineering has made the announcement that they intend to release, and are currently testing versions for non-Windows based operating systems. That, of course, means that if you use a Mac, your luck has run out – but it was worth it.

Recently, the GDYE project release was postponed, as Jinhui stated they needed more time to complete the software.
