Apple iPhones Could Become Useless If Overheated

iPhoneWarningWe recently reported about some iPhone overheating issues. Well, now we’ve learned that Apple has issued a warning advising iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users to operate their device in temperatures between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F) and to avoid storing the device where temperatures reach and exceed 45º C (113º F). For example, don’t leave it in your car, where temperatures easily exceeds the limits mentioned above.
If the phones exceed these temperatures, the devices might stop charging, the screen display might dim, cellular signal may weaken, and the warning screen pictured above could appear. This will automatically lock the device, deeming it useless, except for emergency calls. Apple recommends turning off the device, move it to a cool environment and wait until it cools down completely before using it again. This could spell disaster for some iPhone users, as Apple doesn’t really say how long it takes for the devices to cool down. The cool down process might prove hard in places where temperature easily reach the 100s, like here in Southern California – where last week we experienced temperatures above 100º F. If you find yourself outdoors in summer here with an iPhone, you might be screwed!
