Bing becomes #2 search engine Thursday

Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine, leaped ahead of Yahoo for a brief while on Thursday. Apparently, Bing handled 15.64 percent of searches in the United States. Yahoo handled about 10.32 percent of searches in the United States. Of course, this was no contest compared to Google, handling 71.99 percent of US searches, and 87.66 of searches worldwide (told you – no contest). We’ll go ahead and say “not bad” for a search engine that debuted only three days prior to making this jump ahead of Yahoo.
That’s not to say Bing is a complete success story, attracting its many users on advertising. Previous users of Live Search were forwarded to Bing automatically, accounting for a good part of the search queries Thursday.
